For my last article at PCIJ, we did an in-depth analysis about political jokes here in our country and how they shape the values of Filipinos. We interviewed the famous comedian/impersonator Mr. Willie Nepomuceno and asked about his experiences in the field of political jokes. Members of the academe were also interviewed for this article. Dr. Maria Rhodora Ancheta, an expert in the field of humor and literature from the University of the Philippines and Dr. Clemente Camposano, anthropologist and director of the Institute of Political Economy in the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P)both shared their thoughts regarding the role of political jokes in the Philippine setting. I wrote this article together with three of my co-interns namely Mark Tare from the Lyceum University; Ivan Lim from the University of Asia and the Pacific; and Angela Poe from the Ateneo De Manila University. This was edited by Ms. Malou Mangahas herself, the Executive Director of PCIJ.

This article has also come out in print. The May 18, 2010 issue of the Manila Times has this on its front page. Malaya also published this article on its May 19, 2010 issue. Ms. Ceres Doyo of The Philippine Daily Inquirer also has cited our names and a few paragraphs from our article in his May 20, 2010 opinion column in PDI. :)
