As part of our first assignment at the PCIJ, we are asked by our supervisor to do a series of human interest articles on the life and times of presidential candidates. My group is assigned to do a story on Senator Noynoy Aquino. We need to interview Senator Aquino's college batch mates and/or professors and orgmates and get testimonials from them regarding their experiences with Sen. Aquino during their College years.
After preliminary research, we learned that Sen. Aquino studied in Ateneo from Elementary up to College. He graduated Grade School in 1973 and High School in 1977. In 1981, he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics.
Yesterday, April 15, we went to Ateneo and visited the archives section of their library. There, we were able to get hold of a copy of Sen. Aquino's yearbooks from Grade School until College. We took photos of it and we also wrote down a copy of his write-ups.
While researching in the archives section of the library we discovered that Senator Dick Gordon is also a graduate of Ateneo. He finished College in 1966 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts major in History and Government. Based on the information given in his yearbook, we found out that Sen. Gordon is a very active student during College. He has been elected as class president for a couple of times and is a member of several organizations.
We are still contacting Sen. Aquino's batch mates and we hope to conduct an interview with them soon.
