Bulatlat

Bulatlat is an online publication founded after the reign of the Estrada administration. Bulatlat aims to "fight for truth and justice, freedom, abuse and oppression" as stated in their organizations mission. The focus of Bulatlat concentrates on their advocacy to help the marginalized sector especially the women, children, labor force, oppressed, OFWs, indigenous people and those other sectors who are fighting for human rights and justice.

Bulatlat is headed by Mr. Benjie Oliveros, their Managing Editor. One of their reporters is a graduate of St. Scholastica's College Manila. Janness Ann Ellao is a Mass Communication - Print Journalism batch 2009 graduate of St. Scho.

Since Bulatlat is an alternative journalism, unlike the other media outfits in the country, it is very distinct in terms of the way they conceptualize and write their articles. They don't just publish straight news. The stories they produce provide a deep analysis and a clear explanation of what is really going on around us. Bulatlat is a publication that is for the people, especially for the abused. They serve as the eyes and ears of the poor and oppressed.

Bulatlat is a finalist for three times in the Jaime V. Ongpin Awards for Excellence in Journalism.

This organization is very distinct in terms of their advocacy and the kind of journalism they make. It would really be an honor to be a part of this organization in the future. However, I feel that I do better in feature writing rather than news writing so if given the chance, I'd have to work harder for me to enhance my creativity in writing a news story. :)
