Looking for an OJT site is not easy. I had to scout for the names of the head of each organization I wanted to apply at and I had to write and print letters addressed to different media related organizations. It was good though that some of the organizations allowed me to just send my resume to them via email. But the others required me to personally submit my resume to their office.
Days passed by and I became worried for not a single media organization has called me up for an interview when my classmates have already confirmed that they already have their respective OJT sites. It was on a Holy Monday when my classmate Cielo and I decided to meet to visit and submit personally our resumes to some of the organizations we chose. We submitted our resume to Summit Media and MEGA Publishing first. After that, we decided to go to the office of The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ). We submitted our resume and they told us to come back a week after for our exam. We were supposed to go home already but while walking, we saw the office of Bulatlat. We decided to submit our resumes to them and they told us to also come back a week after.
Our Electronic Newsroom professor Mr. Jerrie Abella was the one who introduced Bulatlat to our class. An exposure trip to the office of Bulatlat.com made me think of choosing it as my OJT site. Bulatlat scheduled me for an interview on a Monday (April 5). We were interviewed as a batch and some of my classmates were with me during that time. Fortunately, we all got accepted.
After the Bulatlat interview, Cielo and I went to the office of PCIJ to follow up our exam schedule. We were surprised when one of the staffs asked us to take the exam on the spot. The exam wasn't that easy and at that time, I thought that I won't be able to pass it. Luckily, I did. The following day, our internship supervisor texted me. She informed me that I passed the test and that I should attend the interns orientation.
That was how I got into PCIJ and Bulatlat for my internship. :)
